Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Cambio Counselling is a virtual psychotherapy practice operated by Adriano ("Bruce") Serviziati, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Under Ontario's Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 (PHIPA), Bruce is the Health Information Custodian responsible for the personal health information collected by this practice, and acts as its privacy contact. Where PHIPA does not apply, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) governs our handling of personal information.
2. What information we collect
Through this website:
- Booking information. When you book an appointment through the calendar on this site (provided by Cal.com), you provide your name, email address, and any answers you give to the booking questions (which may include the reason you are seeking counselling). You may also provide a phone number.
- Direct contact. If you email or call us, we receive whatever information you choose to share.
- Technical data. Our hosting provider (Amazon Web Services / AWS Amplify) automatically logs basic technical information such as IP addresses and pages requested, which we use only for security and site operation. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-first tool that counts visits in aggregate; it does not use cookies, does not track individuals across sites, and does not collect personal information. This website does not use advertising trackers or marketing cookies.
Through the counselling relationship: if you become a client, we collect the personal health information needed to provide safe, effective psychotherapy: contact and identity details, health and personal history relevant to your care, session notes, and billing records. This clinical information is collected with your consent and handled under PHIPA and CRPO record-keeping standards.
3. How we use your information
- To respond to your inquiries and schedule appointments
- To provide psychotherapy services, keep required clinical records, and manage safe, continuous care
- To process payment and issue receipts you can submit to your extended-health insurer (we do not send anything to your insurer; you choose what to submit)
- To send appointment confirmations and reminders
- To meet our legal and professional obligations (for example, CRPO requirements)
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party marketing.
4. Third-party services this website uses
Like most websites, this site relies on a small number of third-party services. When your browser loads them, those providers receive technical data such as your IP address, and their own privacy policies apply:
- Cal.com: powers the booking calendar. Information you enter when booking is stored on Cal.com's servers, which are located in the United States. See Cal.com's privacy policy.
- YouTube (Google): the profile video is embedded in privacy-enhanced mode, which limits tracking until you press play. Playing the video connects your browser to Google/YouTube. See Google's privacy policy.
- Google Fonts and Tailwind CSS CDN: deliver the site's typefaces and styling framework.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS Amplify): hosts this website.
- Cloudflare provides this site's DNS and privacy-first web analytics (aggregate visit counts; no cookies, no cross-site tracking). See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Cross-border note: some of these providers store data outside Canada (primarily in the United States). Information stored outside Canada is subject to the laws of that jurisdiction. Clinical records are not stored on this website or with these website providers.
5. Confidentiality and its limits
What you share in counselling is confidential. We only disclose personal health information with your consent, except in the limited situations where every Ontario therapist is permitted or required by law to disclose:
- Where there is a risk of serious harm to you or to another person
- Where a child may be in need of protection (mandatory reporting under Ontario's child protection legislation)
- Where records are ordered by a court or otherwise required by law
- Where disclosure is required by our regulator (CRPO), for example in an investigation
- Where a resident of a long-term care home or a patient may have been harmed or abused, as required by law
As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), Bruce practises under clinical supervision, which is a CRPO requirement. Aspects of client care may be discussed with his clinical supervisor for the purpose of providing safe, effective therapy; supervisors are regulated professionals bound by the same confidentiality obligations. These limits are reviewed with you in plain language before therapy begins.
6. How we protect your information
- Session notes are handwritten and kept on paper in locked storage. They are never typed into cloud software or stored online
- Booking and billing records held in practice software are access-controlled and password-protected, separate from this website
- Virtual sessions are held on privacy-compliant video platforms, not on this website
- Devices used for practice management are encrypted and protected with strong authentication
- Only Bruce (and, where required, his clinical supervisor or authorized agents) has access to clinical information
A note about email and text: standard email and SMS are not fully secure channels. Please avoid sending detailed personal health information by email or text; keep it for your sessions. If you contact us electronically, we take that as your consent to reply by the same channel unless you tell us otherwise.
7. How long we keep information
Clinical records are retained in accordance with CRPO requirements: at least 10 years from the date of the last interaction with the client, or for clients who were under 18, at least 10 years after the client's 18th birthday, whichever is later. Website inquiry information that does not become part of a clinical record is kept only as long as needed to respond to you, then deleted. Information that is no longer required is securely destroyed.
8. Your rights
Subject to limited exceptions in PHIPA, you have the right to:
- Access your personal health information and receive a copy of your record
- Request correction of information you believe is inaccurate or incomplete, or attach a statement of disagreement
- Withdraw or limit consent to the collection, use, or disclosure of your information going forward (we will explain any consequences for your care, and some legal and professional obligations override withdrawal)
- Ask questions or make a complaint about our privacy practices
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We respond to written access requests within the timelines set by PHIPA (generally 30 days).
9. Complaints
If you have a concern about how your information has been handled, please contact us first. Most issues can be resolved directly. You also have the right to complain to Ontario's privacy regulator:
Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario
2 Bloor Street East, Suite 1400, Toronto, ON M4W 1A8
1-800-387-0073 · www.ipc.on.ca
Concerns about professional conduct can be directed to the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the practice or the law changes. The effective date at the top of this page will always reflect the current version. Material changes will be posted here.

General information only
The content on this website is provided for general information about Cambio Counselling and about psychotherapy. It is not therapy, medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a substitute for advice from a qualified health professional who knows your situation. Never disregard professional advice or delay seeking it because of something you read on this site.
No therapist–client relationship
Visiting this website, reading its content, using its tools, emailing us, or booking a consultation does not create a therapist–client relationship. That relationship begins only after a completed intake process and informed consent, documented between you and your therapist.

References to insurance on this site are general information, not a guarantee. Extended-health plans differ widely; whether your plan reimburses services by a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) depends on your specific policy. Please confirm your coverage with your insurer before booking. Receipts are provided, and fees are payable regardless of reimbursement outcomes.
